Guide to Buying in Canadian Stores

Get information about the prices of goods before buying from Canadian stores

The prices of goods in stores may vary. It is better to get enough information about the prices of goods, especially expensive goods such as electrical appliances, before buying, and then make a purchase.

Buying with a credit card at Canadian chain stores

After 6 months of residence in Canada, you can get a credit card from chain stores. The benefits of this card include using a 10% discount on goods or paying the price of the goods after a few months or even a year from the time of purchase.

So, this opportunity can be a great advantage to buy and save.

Shopping through Weekly Promotions in Canadian Stores

Canadian stores usually drop promotional packages (weekly color catalogs) into the mailing parcels of nearby homes once a week for information. These catalogs are known as  Flyers. These catalogs introduce pictures of some of the items that will be offered at a lower rate during the week.

By reading these packages, Canadian citizens and residents can find out when the stores and auctions are going to be held.

Be sure to look at the flyers.

Days and Hours of Shopping at Canadian Stores

Stores in Canada have different opening hours, but most open at 8-9 a.m. and close at 5-6 p.m.

Very large stores or some local supermarkets may be open until 9 or 10 p.m.

Most stores in Canada are open from Monday to Saturday during the week. Local supermarkets or drake stores, and even bakeries, are open seven days a week.

On certain days, such as Island Day (the third Monday in February), Canada Day (July 1), Easter Sunday, New Year's Day, Good Friday (different dates each year), Victoria Day, Labor Day (the first Monday in September), Thanksgiving Day (the second Monday in October), Boxing Day (December 26), and Christmas Day (December 25), most Canadian stores are completely closed.

Returning items after purchasing from Canadian stores

If the customer is not satisfied with the item for some reason, has changed his mind, or has noticed a problem with the product, he can refer to the  customer service department of the stores and return the item.

Most Canadian stores will pick up returned items and return the money to the customer. In such cases, it is recommended to keep the purchase slip so that you do not have any problems when returning the item.

The term Rain Check in Canadian stores

When a customer wants a product that is not available in the store, he can request that the store provide him with a sample of the item at the same price. This is called  Rain Check.

In such cases, the store staff can search the computer and see in which branch and in what quantity the customer's desired item is available.

Sometimes stores write under the merchandise that it is not possible  to Rain Check.

The Term Clearance in Canadian Stores

This term is used in many non-food stores. When a store decides to sell a series of items faster to replace it with other items, this is called  clearance.

For example, when one or more items of a type of item are left, the store sells it at a much lower price in order to replace the new goods.
